Writers, poets, and writers/poets! Polish up your nonfiction prose and poems because there’s a new magazine in town (er, online).
To kick off Saltern Magazine (née The Coastal Spectator) we’re looking for content. And we thought what better way to spread the word and invite new voices to submit than with a CONTEST! So, if you want to win prizes (specific swag to be determined) and get the chance to see your work in online print here, send us your short CNF and poems!
Submissions should be previously unpublished (if your work has been posted anywhere online or in print, including personal blogs and/or social media posts… it’s considered published) and, well, short.
CNF: keep it to 400 words or less, please. Poetry: no longer than 25 lines (including stanza breaks).
Each entrant can submit one piece per genre.
Email your submissions to us at firstname.lastname@example.org BY MARCH 31 and indicate in the subject line that you’re submitting to our contest. Please don’t include your name in the submission file. Instead, ensure that the title of your piece is included in the body of your email AND your submission file (this is to help us judge fairly)!
Submit all CNF submissions as a .doc or .docx. and submit all Poetry submissions as a .PDF (We want your line and stanza breaks just as you intended them.).
No fee for entry
All shortlisted entries will be published online in our inaugural issue. Winning pieces will receive exciting swag and a monetary award. We can’t wait to read what you send us!
If you have other works you’d like us to look at, please refer to our submission guidelines.
